Brow Lifts for a More Youthful You

Frown lines got you down? Are drooping eyebrows making you look older than you really are, or tired, or angry?

Aging, environmental factors like sun and wind damage plus years of animated facial expressions can take a toll on your face, specifically the forehead area. A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a great way to ‘turn back time’ for a more youthful, alert and rejuvenated appearance.

Botox can be used to temporarily lift the brow, and provides an approximate ‘preview’ of the more long-lasting results a brow lift can provide. However, whereas Botox will only last a few months, a brow lift can last up to 10 years.

If you’re between the ages of 40-70 and desire a more smooth, youthful appearance to your forehead, a brow lift may be your best option.

Wipe Out Worry Lines

Brow lifts can improve brow positioning as well as reduce or eliminate the number of horizontal lines on the forehead and the vertical “worry lines” between the eyebrows.

A brow lift procedure can dramatically rejuvenate your appearance, especially when combined with an eyelid tuck procedure or laser resurfacing of the surrounding skin.

Because the results can be so satisfying to those seeking a more youthful appearance, brow lift surgery has become increasingly popular. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, nearly 45,000 brow lift procedures were performed in 2012 alone.

About the Surgery

First, Dr. Nease, a triple-board certified facial plastic and cosmetic surgeon, will consult with you to discuss your desired outcome and determine the best procedure to achieve that result. One option is the open brow lift, which involves an incision across the hairline. Alternatively, he may opt to perform the less invasive endoscopic brow lift, which requires several small incisions and the use of a small camera. The best option will be determined based on the position of your hairline and expectation of results. During both procedures, the underlying tissue and muscles are relocated and secured in place with permanent sutures. Excess skin may also be removed in the open procedure.

The surgery is typically performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation (often called “twilight anesthesia”). Recovery is typically a week to ten days and pain is minimal. With results lasting up to a decade, the approximately $4500 cost is an excellent value.
