What is Breast Reduction Surgery?
Large breasts can cause problems in many aspects of a woman’s life. Breasts that are too large can be considered aesthetically displeasing; they can cause painful feelings of fullness, as well as pain in the neck, back and shoulders. These symptoms may contribute to limited performance in certain occupations and in sports. Finally, large breasts can also be difficult to assess for lumps or masses, thus making cancer detection much more difficult for the patient or for her physician.
Our approach to breast reduction is unique. Our technique for lifting and reducing the breast typically results in a youthful, perky breast. It adds fullness to the upper area, while minimizing scarring, often without the large scar along the lower crease that is typical with this procedure.
In many cases, a lollipop-style scar is adequate to achieve lifted, smaller and more youthful breasts. We are experienced with a new technique, in which Smartlipo laser technology is added to the procedure, along with liposuction to reduce the overall size of the breast. This creates more lift, firms the skin and allows for even smaller scars with improved results. This new technique is offered by only a handful of surgeons in the United States. Dr. Nease trains surgeons from around the country in the use of the Smartlipo laser so that they too can offer the most cutting edge procedures to their patients.
The Goal of Breast Reduction Surgery
As with every procedure, our first task is to listen and to understand your aesthetic goals. Only then will Dr. Nease or Dr. Deal recommend the best treatment options to reach your goals. Our ultimate goal is your satisfaction and to improve your natural appearance without any obvious signs of surgery. Through meticulous attention to detail all scars are well hidden and minimally invasive techniques are performed whenever possible to give you the best result with the least amount of down time.
