Soft, Sculpted Lips Are Within Reach

A beautiful lip result should blend seamlessly with the rest of your face, not steal the show for the wrong reasons. At Southern Surgical Arts Beauty Bar, our surgeon-led injectable team uses advanced HA fillers to create soft, balanced lips that move naturally when you speak, smile, and laugh.

Every treatment is mapped to your anatomy and proportions, with a focus on:

  • Refining your Cupid’s bow
  • Balancing the upper-to-lower lip ratio
  • Correcting asymmetry or age-related volume loss

All injections are performed by experienced nurse practitioners and registered nurses who specialize in facial aesthetics. The goal: lips that feel like an elevated version of your own, not someone else’s.

What Are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are injectable gels made from hyaluronic acid (HA)—a moisture-binding molecule your body already produces. In the lips, HA filler can:

  • Add soft, pillowy volume
  • Define the borders and Cupid’s bow
  • Smooth vertical “lipstick lines”
  • Correct asymmetry from genetics or prior injury

Different formulations are chosen based on your goals. Lighter gels are ideal for subtle contour and fine-line smoothing, while more robust options create fuller volume. Because HA is naturally present in the skin and can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed, it’s a flexible, reversible way to shape your ideal lip look.

Are You a Good Candidate for Lip Fillers?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Are a healthy adult
  • Want fuller, better-defined lips without surgery
  • Have noticed thinning, wrinkling, or loss of lip shape with age
  • Have realistic expectations and want a natural, polished result

We’ll discuss your medical history, including any history of cold sores, allergies (such as those to lidocaine), and lifestyle factors like playing musical instruments or engaging in athletic activities, so your treatment is both safe and well-timed.

What to Expect During Lip Filler Treatment

After a detailed consultation and photos, we’ll:

  1. Cleanse the area and apply a topical numbing cream
  2. Use an ultra-fine needle or micro-cannula to place tiny amounts of filler in targeted areas
  3. Shape and refine with gentle pressure and constant symmetry checks
  4. Review results together in a mirror and make any small adjustments

Most appointments take about 20–30 minutes. Discomfort is usually mild, thanks to topical numbing and lidocaine within the filler.

Recovery After Lip Filler

  • Mild swelling and tenderness are common for 24–72 hours, and most patients feel “social-ready” within a couple of days
  • Minor bruises may appear and can be covered with tinted balm
  • Avoid intense exercise, saunas, and straws for the first 24 hours
  • Sleep slightly elevated the first night, and avoid pressing on the lips

Where Does a Lip Flip Fit In?

A lip flip uses a tiny amount of neuromodulator (like BOTOX® or Xeomin®) around the upper lip to relax the muscle and let the pink tissue show slightly more. It:

  • Does not add volume
  • Gently improves upper-lip show
  • Can help soften a gummy smile

At Southern Surgical Arts Beauty Bar, we treat the lip flip as a finishing detail, not the main event. It’s ideal for patients who already like their lip size but want a touch more upper-lip visibility—or for those combining it with filler for optimal shape and proportion.
