About Laser and Light Treatments
Southern Surgical Arts offers the most advanced and widest variety of IPL (intense pulsed light) technology in the area. IPL is often called photorejuvenation or photofacial. It is the gold-standard for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, sun damage, active acne, and even collagen rejuvenation for improved skin texture and tone.
IPL is a non-invasive treatment that targets skin concerns using high-intensity pulses of light. Advanced IPL can treat a wide variety of skin tones and concerns, making it a versatile treatment option for many.
Most patients are recommended anywhere between 3-5 sessions, however, this can vary depending on the personalized treatment plan created with your doctor.
Patients can see rejuvenating effects up to 12 weeks after the final treatment session. (1)
PicoSure
PicoSure® is a versatile, short-pulse laser treatment. PicoSure targets discoloration, acne scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles through the use of energy without using significant heat. This helps preserve the skin around the treatment area. By targeting damaged skin cells, the body can regenerate new collagen cells. This leaves your skin glowing and fresh with improved skin texture, minimized fine lines, and reduced age spots.
A topical anesthetic can be applied to the treatment area in preparation, but most patients find that this is unnecessary. There is little to no downtime depending on your personalized treatment plan and skin’s ability to heal. Patients wanting multiple treatments should plan on having 2—6 week intervals between treatments.
MicroLaserPeel
The MicroLaserPeel™ works by utilizing a short-pulsed, erbium laser beam that scans over a specific area, removing the top layer of skin cells in the process. The cells underneath then grow a new layer of rejuvenated skin to take its place, creating a more youthful look in the process. We offer these peels from 15-30 microns with a treatment time ranging anywhere from 30—60 minutes depending on your body goals and personal consultation. Patients can expect to see redness for up to a week after treatment.
Many patients find that they prefer the shorter recovery period compared to more aggressive treatments, but the results are hard to beat, with noticeable results being seen two weeks after initial treatment, with continuous improvement over the course of the following six months.
Please note that there are recovery products required for this treatment. We will send you home with a starter kit after your first treatment.
NanoLaserPeel
The NanoLaserPeel™ is a treatment designed to polish your skin to a supple, soft state through the use of cutting-edge laser technology. The nanolaserpeel utilizes erbium laser technology to target dullness, fine lines, and aging skin, with results being seen just days after the initial treatment.
Treatment can last anywhere between 15-30 minutes making it one of the quickest laser treatments to choose from with lasting results. Patients notice results within one week after their initial treatment, with continued improvement over the following weeks. While many patients find the Nanolaser to be tolerable, some may opt for a topical numbing cream. You may also talk to your provider about combining your NanoLaserPeel with other laser treatments.

CO2 and ProFractional Laser Treatments
The CO2 and ProFractional™ laser treatment is an advanced treatment designed to target scars, discoloration, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and skin laxity. This treatment has longer-lasting results and improvements without the extensive recovery time. This treatment uses innovative, cutting-edge technology to improve the skin’s firmness and elasticity. By stimulating the body’s natural healing process, your skin will look and feel more rejuvenated than ever!
After your consultation, your doctor at Southern Surgical Arts will custom set the machine to your treatment settings. Anything from ablation depth, scan pattern, coagulation, to density can be customized to each individual’s needs. A laser beam will then be used to precisely target the surface of the treatment area.
Unlike full-face resurfacing, which removes the entire surface area of a given treatment site, CO2 and ProFractional laser treatments create narrow channels into the skin. This covers a fraction of the total treatment area, but still initiates the healing response in our body while the surrounding tissue remains intact. After treatment, patients can see improvement in their skin within a few days after healing, with continued improvements for up to 3-6 months.
Please note that this is considered a more aggressive treatment and that there are recovery products required for this treatment.
HALO Laser
HALO™ is the latest treatment innovation from Sciton, the only customizable hybrid fractional laser system available. This system combines two different types of laser wavelengths to target wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and revising scars, and more.
The two types of wavelengths used in the procedure are ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. Ablative wavelengths target damaged tissue on the skin’s surface while non-ablative wavelengths penetrate the deeper layers of the skin without having to remove any tissue. This treatment can provide precision removal of both surface and sub-surface facial skin damage simultaneously, despite the two types of skin needing different approaches.
HALO laser treatment stimulates collagen production and the regeneration of fresh skin cells, improving the texture of your skin and leaving your face feeling tighter. The HALO laser treatment is suitable for a wide variety of skin conditions and treatment is fully customized to target your specific skin concerns.
The average HALO laser treatment can last anywhere between 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area and the treatment plan created with your doctor. Before the start of the treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area to ensure you are as comfortable as possible. After the treatment, patients find that they can return to their daily schedule within a short period.
Photofacials
Photofacials are a versatile treatment that can help reduce sunspots, freckles, and age spots, while also minimizing redness in the face from broken capillaries. This treatment uses an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to penetrate the skin to break down imperfections. Over time, the body naturally clears these targets. Photo facials stimulate collagen production which helps improve the skin’s texture.
Blue Light Therapy
Blue light therapy is a treatment optimized for those with mild to moderate acne and rosacea who are seeking a non-invasive treatment without the use of medication. Blue light therapy has been found to successfully destroy the Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) bacteria that cause breakouts on the face. (3) The treatment also reduces inflammation, redness, reduces acne, and prevents future breakouts. Blue light therapy is a gentle treatment that doesn’t cause any harm to the tissue and can be combined with other treatments to improve the texture of your skin.

Laser Hair Reduction/Removal
Laser hair reduction/removal has become an increasingly popular choice for addressing unwanted hair due to its long-term effectiveness. (4) Here at Southern Surgical Arts, all of our lasers are FDA approved and operated by highly trained and experienced technicians. We offer three different types of lasers (YAG, GentleMax, and IPL). We ensure each treatment is customized to the fullest extent while maintaining the integrity of the surrounding tissue. Please note that patients may need anywhere from five to eight treatments to see partial/total clearance.
Can I Combine Treatments?
While many of our treatments can be combined safely, please schedule a consultation where we can discuss the possibility of receiving multiple treatments. Some treatments may not be suitable to combine, but no matter what the case is, our team will customize your treatment plan to rejuvenate your look.
